Ah, the threats they begin.

The Seattle Atheists bus ads are spawning ridiculous comments on all the message boardsphere.

Nice.

And now for some common (and often funny, and always stupid) misconceptions:

  1. King County Metro advertisements are government-sponsored, and the ads are a violation of the separation of church and state. (Let’s talk about the Pledge of Allegiance, and In God We Trust on money for a moment, shall we? SA paid for those ads, just like every church and religious group that has been doing the same thing forEVER.)
  2. These are anti-religion ads on government property. (Thomas Jefferson was anti-religion? He was a deist, idiot! Tell this to Casey and Wendy Treat, who also run ads on Metro buses.)
  3. There are NEVER any religious ads on buses, so why are they doing it? Can you imagine the uproar if a religious group did this? (see #1, #2, and the “Why Islam” and “Save Gaza” campaigns)
  4. Free speech is fine, except when it comes to atheism. (But in this case, free speech is OK unless it’s Thomas Jefferson, Susan B. Anthony or Albert Einstein… and if you’re a complete idiot.)
  5. These ads are somehow a waste of time or money that could be better spent. (Really? Who are you to say? SA is an educational organization. It’s what they do.)
  6. Atheist believe in nothing except putting up ads in buses about themselves to grow a group of more atheists. (I can’t… I’m just laughing at this.)
  7. They’re trying to change you, or force you to think in a certain way. (Ha! Right! Like that’s going to happen.)

I love idiots and comment trolls. They are so entertaining. But, they erode my faith in humanity.
